What's in season in July
July is peak picking. Courgettes, cucumbers, French and runner beans, beetroot, carrots, onions, garlic and the first tomatoes all arrive, with raspberries, blackcurrants and cut flowers such as sweet peas, dahlias and sunflowers.

Grower tip: Courgettes start to glut now. Pick them at 10 to 15 cm and share spares within a day or two, as a bagful that's free, a swap or pay what you think.
